Moeraki Boulders

Moeraki Boulders

South Island, New Zealand. The rounded rocks found in Moeraki are actually large crystalline structures formed in specific geological conditions. As the cliff along the beach erodes, the rock balls up to 4m across roll down the beach and into the water, some breaking open with weathering. The tide was too high for my intended shot so I had to improvise and risk both myself and my gear getting drenched.
