Traanskei, South Africa. This shot was taken while waiting on an inflatable boat for some underwater action to occur. At a particular time of year along this coast hordes of sardines follow a shallow cold current up the coast and are preyed on by the biggest assembly of predators seen on earth. In addition to gannets plunging from the skies, below the waves pods of dolphins herd sardines into bait balls using bubble rings and pick off individuals. Once the fish are tightly packed, sharks and occasionally whales join the feeding mayhem
